A festival was held to promote the advancement and development of construction technology by boosting the pride and sense of responsibility of 950,000 construction engineers and boosting their morale by recognizing those who have made significant contributions.
Today (the 24th), the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport held the '2023 Construction Engineers' Day' Commemoration Ceremony jointly with the Korea Professional Engineers Association. This year marks the twenty-third anniversary, having started in 2001.
This year's event adopted the theme 'Construction Engineers! Towards a Better Tomorrow,' and presented new goals and a future direction for the construction sector, encapsulating the commitment of construction engineers to become key players in the future by enhancing
their smart technology capabilities to align with the digitalization of the construction industry, overcoming the COVID-19 situation, and spearheading economic recovery.
Approximately 700 people attended the ceremony, including Prime Minister Han Duck-soo, First Vice Minister of Land, Infrastructure and Transport Lee Won-jae, Korea Professional Engineers Association Chairman Yoon Young-gu, and heads of construction-related organizations.
During the ceremony, a total of 44 construction engineers who made significant contributions to the development of the construction industry were presented with Government Commendations and Certificates of Commendation from the Minister of Land, Infrastructure and Transport.
The Silver Tower Order of Industrial Service Merit, was awarded to Kim Jong-ho, CEO of CHANG MINWOO STRUCTURAL CONSULTANTS in recognition of his contributions to the development of construction technology through securing core structural design technology for high-rise buildings.
The Bronze Tower Order of Industrial Service Merit was awarded to Han Hyung Gwan, President of Hanmac Engineering.
