Hanmac Engineering Pushes for Development of XR-Based Integrated Road Construction Platform

Hanmac Engineering announced on the 21st that it is pushing for the development of an Extended Reality(XR)-based integrated road construction platform for innovation in the road construction business. Hanmac Engineering presented the concept of the XR-based integrated road construction platform at the Global Metaverse Exhibition, KMF&KME 2021, which was held at COEX from the 16th to the 18th. At the exhibition, they presented their core technology and research achievements regarding future visions. Notably, at this exhibition, Hanmac Engineering also disclosed materials containing its long-term vision and specific development direction related to its software development.

Furthermore, Hanmac Engineering, which is leading the XR Flagship Project of the National IT Industry Promotion Agency (NIPA) in the construction sector, is pushing for the transition of the construction industry to an approach centered on design. It is also developing methods for industry-wide digital transformation to improve efficiency and productivity. Based on this, it plans to present a vision for innovative solutions for the entire construction lifecycle through the development of the integrated road construction platform in the public sector road construction business.

In addition, Hanmac Engineering aims to generate new construction-related content by converging XR technology, which realizes immersive virtual reality, with construction technology. the company also intends to drive digital transformation that innovates the traditional construction industry into a smart construction industry.

Chung Taewon, the head of Hanmac Engineering's Technology Development Center, stated, "We plan to enhance the efficiency of the construction industry by strengthening design technology, establishing an integrated platform, and developing core content for the road sector." He added, "We plan to expand the XR technology, which is applied to the road sector, to all areas of infrastructure such as railways, industrial and residential complex infrastructure, and water and sewage systems in phases in the mid-to-long term."
